SOLOMON HUGHES currently stars in HBO’s hit series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty where he plays Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The series follows the players, coaches, and owners of the LA Lakers Dynasty from the 1980's and boasts an all-star cast including John C. Reilly, Sally Field, Jason Segel, Adrien Brody, and many others.
Hughes graduated from Berkeley, where he earned his B.A. in Sociology and M.A. in Education. During that time he served as the captain of the University of California Berkeley men's basketball team, and, during his junior season, led the Pac-12 in field goal percentage. He then went on to play basketball professionally in the USBL, the ABA, and the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional Mexico. Hughes also holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Georgia and was the Assistant Director of the EDGE Doctoral Fellowship Program at Stanford, as well as a notable lecturer in the University's Department of Education. Winning Time is Hughes’ first acting credit.
