Jamie Schouela serves as President, Canadian Media at Blue Ant Media. He is charged with leading the strategic direction and operations of the company’s Canadian television, print, digital, and consumer event properties. Blue Ant’s brands include BBC Earth Canada, Cottage Life, T+E, Makeful, Smithsonian Channel Canada, Love Nature, the Seasons' Christmas Show, and the Toronto Baby Shows.
In this role, he manages multi-platform content development and scheduling, marketing, communications, as well as the company’s domestic media sales team and social content studio, Blue Ant Plus. He also oversees relationships with Blue Ant’s national cable, satellite, and digital distribution partners.
Jamie has a strong background building premium, multi-platform media brands both through partnerships that have brought international players to Canada (Smithsonian Channel and BBC Earth) as well as leading the development and launch of homegrown ones (Love Nature, Makeful, A.Side). He has also been a driver of Blue Ant’s overall commitment to expand on emerging platforms by championing the launches of Love Nature SVOD and Smithsonian’s digital video products in Canada.
Prior to Blue Ant Media, Schouela served as Vice-President, Marketing for Shaw Media, directing all marketing and communications activity for Global Television and its 19 specialty channels. He began his career at Alliance Atlantis where he helped build a number of networks including Showcase, History Television and BBC Canada. His campaigns have won both Promax and Canadian Marketing Association awards, as well as a Guinness World Record for a stunt promoting hit series 24.
Jamie sits on the Board of Directors for Numeris and the Polaris Music Prize. He is also a former member of the Primetime Conference Advisory Board.
