Lauren Howes (non-binary) is the newly appointed Executive Director of Inside Out 2SLGBTQ+ Film Festival. Inside Out is one of the largest 2SLGBTQ+ festivals in North America and the single largest promoter of 2SLGBTQ+ content in Canada. Howes has more than 20 years of Executive not-for-profit management experience. Previous to joining Inside Out they were the Executive Director at Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre since 2006, and over the past decade has served the Arts Community sitting on the boards of the Toronto Arts Council, the Media Arts Network of Ontario, nationally with the Independent Media Arts Alliance, the Toronto Media Arts Centre (TMAC) and the streaming platform vucavu.com. Originally hailing from the West Coast, the unceded territory of Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, they are fifth generation settler on the matriarchal line.
