Igal Svet serves as Vice President of Documentaries at discovery+ where he spearheads development of the creative vision and strategy behind original documentaries. He is responsible for the ideation and creation of a wide range of projects and oversees the documentary content acquisition from filmmakers around the globe. In his tenure so far, Svet worked with the team at discovery+ to acquire films such as Introducing, Selma Blair, Francesco, Rebel Hearts, Groomed, Miracle Fishing: Kidnapped Abroad, and Citizen Penn. He was also involved in the development of two discovery+ original documentaries, Attack of the Murder Hornetsand Expedition: Back to the Future. Other credits include executive producer of the anthology series, Auto Biography: Racing Legends, as well as The Lost Lincoln.
Prior to his current role at discovery+, Svet served as Vice President of Production and Development for documentaries and specials at Discovery Inc. He led the team responsible for development and executing production strategies for event programming, documentaries and specials, including Shark Week.
Before Discovery, Svet served as Senior Director of Development at National Geographic Channel. In his five years at National Geographic, he was part of the team developing a sweeping slate of the original programs includingOne Strange Rock, Mars and The Story of God with Morgan Freeman, and live specials includingEarth Live and Yellowstone Live. Svet earned his BS from Boston University in Film/Television and Philosophy where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.
