Adam Benzine is a Toronto-based filmmaker and journalist. He is the Canadian Bureau Chief for entertainment trade publisher C21 Media, covering content in all genres across North America. Prior to joining C21, he served for four years as the Associate Editor for Realscreen, the international publisher of non-fiction film and television industry news. He has written for a range of publications, including The Globe and Mail, The Walrus, The National Post and Indiewire.
As a filmmaker, he wrote, produced and directed the HBO documentary Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of the Shoah, which has screened at festivals and been broadcast by networks across the world. The film earned him an Academy Award® nomination, in addition to recognition from the Griersons, the Canadian Screen Awards, the IDA Awards, the Banff Rockies and the Cinema Eye Honors.
He regularly attends and covers most major film and TV industry festivals and markets, including Sundance, South By Southwest, MIPCOM and the Toronto International Film Festival; and frequently chairs panel sessions and Q&As with filmmakers and execs, at events such as NATPE, Hot Docs, PTiO, IDFA and Sheffield Doc/Fest.
