From his first job working as a theatre usher on a Canadian Military base in Germany, J has spent close to three decades working in media. During his undergraduate program at Queen's University he founded a rock group that recorded two albums and toured with acts that included The Tragically Hip, Wilco and Primus. After graduation, he directed award-winning shorts and at every level of production on films, television and commercials in Toronto. Relocating to Vancouver he founded Overinteractive Media to develop dimeRocker, a cloud-based platform designed to accelerate the creation of branded social games, gamification solutions and analytics strategies that was a finalist for "Best New Media Technology” at the 2010 CNMA Awards. His clients include Telus, CBC, Canada Games and CAA to name a few. Realising this platform could power a new kind of content studio, J co-founded The Coup Company to surface, market and finance independent screen-based creators. Productions to date have included: Wolfcop, Another Wolfcop, Hellmington and Humantown. He currently sits on the board for the Vancouver International Film Festival and is an advisor to the Academy of Canadian Film and Television.
